The first World Book Day was celebrated on 23 April in 1995 organized by UNESCO in 1995, UNESCO decided that the World Book and Copyright Day would be celebrated on 23 April, as the date is also the anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. This date was a natural choice for UNESCO’s General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone to access books.

BR Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. Despite facing discrimination and hardships due to his caste background, he pursued education relentlessly and earned multiple degrees, including a doctorate from Columbia University in the United States. He dedicated his whole life to eradicate discrimination against the untouchables and fight for the rights of women and labour.
Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was the first Law Minister of independent India and the "Father of the Indian Constitution".
